Schaefers Canal House & Marina
Table Of Content

Tom was expert on getting us secured in swift currents. On site restaurant very convenient. Convenient spot to stop with a restaurant at your door. There are no shower facilities and the bathrooms are serviceable.
Comfort food,
Dealing with the currents in the canal and the huge concrete Chesapeake City Bridge support in the middle of the dock can be quite a challenge. And many a loud speed boat takes advantage of the good fuel prices here. But the people are friendly and the area peaceful, with the restaurant offering decent food and beverage options. Overall a nice one night stop. Be prepared and time your canal transit and docking based on tides. Check AIS for commercial traffic before departing the dock.
Healthy options,
While Schaefer's Canal House is an awesome marina, they also have an amazing bar and restaurant attached to it that second to none. During the season, you will find live music and events at The Lighthouse Bar on site. Additionally, the restaurant has beautiful deck seating that overlooks the water, with both indoor and outdoor dining options available. Filled with a wide variety of seafood specialties and casual bites, there is a taste here that will please any pallet. The restaurant does have special menus for holidays, as well as an amazing event space, perfect for hosting your next big shindig. The beautiful veranda that overlooks the creek gives guests a quiet spot to catch up on some serious R&R.

Organic dishes,
They are able to run this top notch facility because of the knowledgable & friendly deckhands. (Olivia Marro, Leah Stubbs, Scott Seisler) Schaefer's is without question your #1 way point when transiting the C&D Canal. Staff was great - and knowledgeable of local conditions and setting lines for the 3+ foot tide swings.

Vegetarian options,
A two-story Silverton yacht bobbed in the water. A group of Chesapeake City residents and their lawyer went tothe county liquor board on Tuesday looking for help getting somesleep at night. The restaurant and banquet hall closed in 2005 after theDellaBarbas reportedly fell behind on mounting business debt. "We are hands-on business people," Giordano said. "One of usunlocks and locks the place every day." If you have tried the above and still do not see availability, the marina may be full for your dates or unable to accommodate your vessel size.

Late-night food,
A very convenient stop along the way. The person that helped us dock was excellent! Very helpful tie up assistance. The owner and his son were polite and the facility was a perfect stopover. Very good prices at the dock and restaurant.

All 1,200 newly installed deck boards felt the chaos of crowds dancing and carousing, as customers squeezed around a 32-seat outdoor bar and spilled onto the dance floor. This is a restaurant with a dock that accepts transients, not a true marina. Only docking for sailboats is along the canal bulkhead, but wake from passing boats was less than feared, since Chesapeake City is a "no wake" zone. Note that they have fuel (gas and diesel), but no other amenities for transients (no pump-out/showers/laundry/after-hours toilets etc.).
Currents not a significant issue when taken bow first. Marina staff is very knowledgeable on currents and did a great job of securing the boat for an overnight stay. Will be using the Marina on my return trip. The high outside dock in front of the restaurant prohibited us from getting on and off of the boat at low tide.
Location much quieter than Chesapeake Inn. Enjoyed the bike trail and restaurant accommodations. Dock crew were very accommodating. The docks and power were very new and more than adequate. Dock hands were very helpful ,especially with their current and friendly.
Note that the dock has no cleats to which you can tie, you'll need to throw a clove hitch or something around the pilings. The dock hands are quite good about helping with line handling. Much enjoyed the large bar/restaurant - good food and service.
The dueling sauces manage cleverly to accentuate the oysters’ inherent sweetness and pungency. Only, 40 minutes later, you’re still staring. The snacks still hadn’t arrived.
